Portishead Pilot Gig Club took part in a regatta hosted by the Salcombe Estuary Rowing Club held in sunny Salcombe, South Devon.
Held on a bright and sunny June day, the competition was enjoyed by everyone who attended – even those who had already rowed in competitions the day before!
Fifteen gig clubs from around the South West took part and the Ladies B team did well to come 9th out of 14 in their race thanks to some determined rowing by the team and their experienced cox on loan from Salcombe. The Men’s B and Ladies’ Vets teams enjoyed the challenge and put in creditable performances. We were delighted to be able to help Mevagissey Gig Club by lending them one of our coxes to enable them to compete in the Mens A, B and Vets races.
Thanks to the Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) for the loan of their smart gig Bacchante and to Clevedon Pilot Gig Club for sharing their gazebo on a hot sunny day!
Well done to everyone who took part and the supporters who came to cheer them on.
